New 500 size Airwolf winter project

by asomaro » Wed Nov 10, 2010 8:19 pm

Well, I fancy a bit of a winter project so I just bought myself a 500 size Airwolf fuselage with cnc retracts.

I'm a scale virgin, so this could be fun!! Anyway, I've been trawling the net for any detailed build threads, but they seem to be few and far between which is surprising. Just about everything I've seen suggests that any instructions that come with the kit are next to useless, so I'd be interested to hear form anyone that knows where I could find a 500 sized Airwolf build thread that has good pictures and step by step hints!

Here are a couple of pictures of the newly arrived kit...

Sorry Simon, can't help with your issue. The packing looks remarkably similar to the Sea King 500 size which I had delivered on Monday and same retract mechanism by the looks of things. I had NO information included with the fuz and the standard internet trawl turned up a bit of info, but not a lot :( Will keep my eye on this thread just in case. Regards.

HI asomaro,

like yourself, I to am building the Bell222 only the Trex 450 Align fuslage, at present have just sorted out the retracts and nav leds, cockpit leds etc but a great prodject for winter. This is my first build ever both heli and fuz so can't wait to get her airborn.

not sure how to post the link so I hope I'm not infringing any forum rules, but here is a link to a guy who builds quite a few scale heli's. http://www.helifreak.com/search.php?sea ... =25&page=6 I tried to find the airwolf build for you but got called away, but if you look down his posts your sure to find it along with tips etc :)

I've just test fitted the heli to see how easy it is to install, and have enclosed an earlier piccy b4 installing the nav leds etc, the blades are not connected to the swash plate so they look a bit odd at the minute. Anyway hope you enjoy your build and the link helps you out.

Try http://www.scalerchelis.com. I am sure you can find a few there in current or finished projects...

Thanks guys for the responses - much appreciated :)

Terry, just noticed that your tail blades look like they are the wrong way round - usually the tail will revolve anti clockwise with the leading edge going up into the main blade down-wash.

Cheers,
Simon.

Thanks Guys, well spotted, It was the unbuilt heli just pushed into the fuz for a test fit, not the SEv2 I'm actually using, but your keen eyes has stood you both in good stead for when I get around to building it, or robbing it for spares  cheers!

Must have been having a senior moment  More haste less speed huh!

Hi Simon,
Black Titanium on the Freak covers quite a few 450 scale jobs and was a great help to me when I was setting up the Bo 105. He's got some nice paint schemes there too.
