Would this be a good ESC for the current stock belt cp? (specs are below)
- Safe Start Up (wont start until your throttle is at 0)
- Low Voltage Protection
- Over voltage protection
- Overheat protection
- Lipo or NiMH/NiCD batteries
- 3 Startup modes (Soft Start)\
- 3 timing modes
Max / burst current:50A
A great ESC, rated for standard 40amps! Burst to 50 amps! Comes with manual. Fully programable for soft start/fast start etc via "beep codes". Very easy to setup and perfect for your T-Rex or other 450 sized RC Helicopter."
Another question, would the smallest slightest bend in the main shaft cause the esc to get really hot and cut out/overheating?

I,m no spec expert but 'Yes' sounds like the Esc will do the job not only for a stock CP but also when you,ve upgraded in the future for better motors , batts etc.
As for the mainshaft , i suppose it will have a very small effect on the esc heating up.
But but you are not alone , as it appears most of the stock mainshafts come 'ready bent' and they fly all the same.
ps, get yourself a S/Steel mainshaft from(pm sent) cheap, straight, job done.
Hkh 450- running with sonix 30a esc, 300hdx motor, G401b gyro, Zippy 2200s .
HKH 450_no2 (bought for spares)
Belt cp_ modded , on the shelf at minute, nicked electrics for hkh. (Will get back in the air one day soon.

the heating of you esc is common with the esky one, needs at least a seperate 'ubec' .
and make sure your 'drive train' is very free, should spin at least once or more when you spin the rotor by hand, --tight gear mesh, too big a pinion, tight belt, and bad bearings will all make motor work harder and 'pull' more amps .
if above are ok then the new esc should be ok.

Do you not also get vibrations with your bent mainshaft?
Always buy the best Helicopter you can afford to crash!
