450 Clone Which is Best

by dalerst » Sat Feb 06, 2010 10:13 am

Well I think I'm going to go down the 450 clone build, so just want to know the opinion on the best one, the HK450 or the copterx450 and also advice on the best electrics and gyro etc, I have about £100 for the heli and electrics, I will then sort the Tx and Rx out later when the heli is built.

Your help and advice would be good :D :D :D
Cheers

I own both and the copter x when built with care is the far better deal, mine has this motor and i'm very happy with flight times and power

its one of the cheapest motors around and for the money its a steal.

Dal im afraid i must disagree, HK releaased the HK450V2 which is identical to the EXI450, that is in my opinion a better deal, Half alloy head, alloy swash etc etc, its a killer deal. Everything that NEEDS to be alloy is!

£18 delivered, i think not, i went for the cheapest build i could find as at the time i was in the early stages of flying heli's.
Its the usual setup on a clone the gy401b and cheapo unbranded servos on the cyclic, i did however go for the mks 480 tail servo as i had seen one on a friends heli and i was impressed.
In my mind its the ideal setup for a first time heli as parts are cheap to replace.
Pm sent with cheaper motor details i got mine for under a tenner delivered. :D
the gyro came from the same site

Im using a G401B with a GWS Park servo on the tail - Not a bad hold. For the cyclic im using MG14's (very happy with these) and a Turnigy Typhoon 2215H motor - (excellent motor). And of course the Dragonsky 450 (same as the HK450 or EXI heli's).

Good luck,

For a clone 450 V2 the best IMO is the CopterX 450 SE V2 Or the New HK450 V2 TT

For the motor, i am running a TowerPro 2415-7T 3850KV on a 450 i have its not bad for £7......and turnigy Tg9 £2.20.... they seem ok too. Cheap yes, but they work and they are on my beater heli..... so they dont have a high life expectancy anyhow...

silver, i would be wary of the TG9 servo's as they are a cheaper version of the HXt900's which are better overall. Also, take a look at the Turnigy Typhoon, You will not be disappointed.

Here u go guys, this may show u my set up:

Thanks for all the advice guy, I've been looking around at the 2 heli's and there is not much between them, I do like the copterx se, but then again the HK450CCPM also looks good for the price at only $47.00 :? I will keep you all posted on my decision, but I think it will be the HK450 :D :D

Set up looks good, Only thing to bear in mind - Make sure you get the HK450 V2 helicopter, also - The Turnigy Typhoon 2215H motor is very similar to the one you have, but cheaper (and i can assure you of its quality and performance). finally the esc, get the HK50/60 H esc (it has governer mode for when you start flying 3D and again, cheaper than the one you have).

Check out this thread i wrote up a while back:

Enjoy,

Thanks for the info, I cant find the HK50/60 H esc but have found the 35/40 will that be as good? as for the HK450 kit it is the one of there web site which I think is the V2 http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/stor ... Rex_Compat.)

The motor looks good as well and like you say is cheeper :D :D

Hey Dal,
The one you posted is FULL Alloy, something which i avoid personally like the plague - reason being that if you crash you WANT something to break, if it doesn't... Everything twists. and twisted metal components are just as useful as broken plastic components.

The HK450 V2 has all the parts it needs in alloy and all the others in plastic. I.e the perfect combination (i find personally) of alloy / plastic.

Good luck,

4mm bullet connectors for the esc/ motor, Deans or XT60's for the esc / battery.

keep the questions flowing, happy to answer them :)

Ouch, unlucky.

I was in a similar position so i just ordered everything i could in a smaller order (electrics, servo's, battery etc) to make up the smallest postage category ($5 i think) and purchased the heli when it came back in stock...

at least you can have your esc's and motors wired up and ready when the bird comes in...
